It’s hard to believe but The Smashing Pumpkins have been around since 1988. Friday night’s show at Champions Square marked the tenth time I’ve seen the band live. I was not lucky enough to see them in a small club. They’ve always been big; I can’t even imagine seeing them in a small club.
Friday’s show was part of the Pumpkins Rock Invasion 2 Tour. The set was a collection of songs spanning across the Pumpkins career, less their debut. They also brought back a fan favorite cover of the Talking Heads’ “Once in a Lifetime,” last played back in 2000. The material from CRY, their latest album, translated well to live performance. If you ever have a chance to see the Pumpkins live, do yourself a favor, and do so. You can see more pictures of the amazing show here.
